This is a hybrid/extract kit using dark steeping grains, Gold malt syrup, Pilsen malt syrup, Pilsen light DME, Golden light DME, Horizon Hops and Czech Saaz Hops. This beer has to ferment around 50 degrees. I bought it from Northern Brewer. Brewing day went very well, and I was quickly able to cool the wort just in an ice bath in my kitchen sink. Moved everything to the fermenter, and put in my horizontal freezer at 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Then things got really interesting. This is designed as a high ABV beer, with my initial gravity at 1.078. It's seems to be a slow fermenter.. with a reading after 3.5 weeks of 1.043 (4.86 abv) and still fermenting. We'll have to see how this one turns out. Also, I'm making this batch for my brother, and I already designed labels and plan on bottling at least some of it.
